It’s a combination of ‘Thank God’, ‘Bloody Hell’, and sheer wonder, the look that will be worn by so many British people, particularly the women. Early 1942, and the American GIs have arrived.

For those who might not be aware, there's an Author Auction taking place this weekend! The auction is to help contribute to the medical expenses of Stacie Holeman, an American fan writer with breast and ovarian cancer. A lot of authors from DW and TW fandom (including me) are on the block, donating their talents to the cause, so if you've ever fancied having a story written to your specifications, why not come along and see what's on offer? I know that I'd love to get a historical!TW challenge to play with! :D

For more information on the auction, see here.

For more information on Stacie, see here or here.

And to see all of the DW/TW auction participants, see here or click on the banner above.

The auction starts tonight at 11:59pm CDT (about 6am on Saturday 12th in the UK), and runs until 8pm CDT on Monday 14th (about 2am on Tuesday 15th).

Bid early, bid often! ;)

Couple of pieces about memory and remembrance, today.

First one's for canaana's Time and Motion, with a brilliant OFC who manages to give Jack a good run for his money.

And then, as you might have already seen, there's something for concertigrossi's Jack and the Face of Boe fic, In Perpetuity, with that line.

Feedback is loved & appreciated :) Enjoy! previews and link behind the cutCollapse )

Title: A Flower at the Grave
Author: verasteine
Summary: A night in the trenches.
Rating: explicit (sex) // NC-17
Pairing: Jack/omc
Length: 3,794 words
Disclaimer: I don't own them and intend no infringement. They belong to the BBC.
Spoilers: none
Thanks to: thaddeusfavour, kel_reiley, mad_jaks, and caladria, for being willing to take a look and beta the shit out of this. Without you all, I could not have done this.
A/N: This is a romanticised story. As much research as I did to keep details accurate and historical, I had to handwave things that I just couldn't make myself put in. Life in the trenches wasn't fun, and it wasn't like this. That said, things like this did happen. Enjoy.

Title: And Seven for a Secret
Author: Aeshna
Rating: R for violence and language, gen
Word count: 58,327
Characters: Jack Harkness, OCs
Summary: If you are reading this then I am dead, and with my death dies a promise I made a long, long time ago... When Ben Haldane is left a cryptic note in his grandfather's will, it leads him to a story far stranger than he could ever have imagined.
Disclaimer: Not mine, no matter how many DVDs and toys I buy! Everything here belongs to RTD and to Auntie Beeb, who already has my licence fee.
Notes: This was written for the 2009 tardis_bigbang challenge – the link below goes to their website – and is easily the single longest thing that I've ever produced. The basic idea was one that had been floating around in my brain for a while, but it really took form as I researched the era I was playing with – I had been planning to invent a mad Nazi version of Torchwood, but then found that Himmler had rather beaten me to it! Well, if it was good enough for Indiana Jones.... ;)

Thanks as always to mimarie for sterling beta work, and also to kris4n6 and sffuzzywriter for read-throughs and much-needed encouragement along the way – any remaining weirdnesses (and there are probably a few in my mangling of the German language) are all mine. Thanks also to neth_dugan and wihluta for the illustrations! Feedback of any variety is much appreciated but not compulsory – I'll post anyway! I've suffered for my art, now it's your turn....

Characters: Jack Harkness, OCs
Rating: Adult; Sex, violence, strong language - all that good stuff - but the explicit stuff's in Pt.2.
Disclaimer: Doctor Who and Torchwood and their characters belong to the BBC and to their individual creators.
Notes: A little of what Jack may or may not have got up to in WW1; it seemed to make sense for him to be a flying ace. I can't vouch for the strict historical accuracy of the aircraft or the action; I was going for a "feel" of First World War aerial hijinks more than anything. Partly inspired by things like "The Blue Max" and "Aces High" and the novels of Derek Robinson.

So, this is Tommy One Year On, waking up to find the Great War over and that a lot has changed for Torchwood Three as well in the meantime. Douglas and Charles, of course, are allegedly the other two guys in the photo in "To the Last Man". Warning: some character whumping ahead and spoilers for "To the Last Man".

Notes: This is my entry in that well-tramelled subgenre the Human Nature/Family of Blood sequel/epilogue, but mainly it's about another day at the office for Gerald and Harriet. I follow the backstory hints given on the TW website back in the day, with a heavy admixture of my own personal fanon; I have yet to see the "Torchwood Archives" book. This rather dark little story came from this section of the last part of “The Torchwood Girls”:

Alice Guppy and Emily Holroyd did abuse Jack’s telepathy and empathy... Often against his will, they’d tended to inflict on him the mind control and emotion manipulation devices that fell through the Rift. And if he’d died during one of the sessions, they really hadn’t cared.

Emily and Alice had grinned like a pair of really evil Cheshire cats, when Jack told them just what Torchwood’s latest acquisition did.

To start at the beginning, follow this link:

In the autumn of 1913, Captain Jack Harkness is alone in the Torchwood Cardiff Hub, with all his fifty-first century senses wide open, when he receives a telepathic message. Repeatedly. Attempting to draw what he’s received, from his mind’s eye, Jack ends up with a lot of circles and lines. Shapes he last saw thirty one years ago, on Post-It notes, haphazardly stuck all over the TARDIS console.
